Lack of the hormone testosterone, which is the hormone that controls sexual desire, can also cause impotence. Erections occur when there is high blood flow to the penis, which creates pressure enough for an erection. Anything that blocks the vessels carrying blood to the penis can cause impotence. Also, over time the body becomes old and this is one of the major causes of impotence.
Treatment for Impotence
To treat impotence caused by mental problems, you can visit a sexual therapist or counselor. They will help you with your anxiety and stress, and you will be able to overcome your impotence in no time.
Physical damage to the penis needs to be treated by a qualified expert. You may require corrective surgery in this case.
Some other advice which you can follow is regular exercise, healthy diet, weight control, drinking lots of water and a good nights rest. Also, reducing the frequency of sex from 5 days a week to 2 days a week will help you combat impotence.
